Why We Ride
Woolacombe
Woolacombe Bay is three miles of uninterrupted North Atlantic beach on the North Devon coast. It faces due west — straight into the prevailing swell — which means that when conditions fire, it fires properly. Long, clean lines rolling in off the Atlantic make it one of the best places in the UK to learn surf foiling and develop your riding on real ocean energy.
The bay is wide enough that you're never crowded, and the gradual sandy bottom means you can take a fall without consequences. For beginners, the flat sections inside the break give protected water to find your footing. For more experienced riders, the outside peaks offer proper swell to work with.
Woolacombe is also exposed enough that wing foiling works on most wind days — the combination of consistent Atlantic westerlies and the natural amphitheatre of the valley behind the beach means there's almost always something to ride. It's why we built our Devon operation here, and why we ride here ourselves every chance we get.

FAQ
-
All sessions launch from Woolacombe Beach — we'll confirm the exact meeting point on the day based on conditions and state of tide. There's a car park directly behind the beach and plenty of space to kit up. We'll send you full directions and a what3words location when you book.

Woolacombe faces due west into the North Atlantic, which means consistent swell from autumn through spring and reliable westerly winds year round. In summer the swell drops but winds remain steady — ideal for wing foiling. The wide sandy bay means conditions vary across the beach, and we'll always position you in the section best suited to your level.
-
Yes. The gradual sandy bottom and protected inner sections of the bay make it an excellent learning environment. Beginners start in the calmer water inside the break before progressing to more open conditions as their skills develop. The 5-stage Foil Intensive was designed specifically with Woolacombe conditions in mind.
-
Yes — we operate year round from Woolacombe. Winter sessions require a thicker wetsuit (we'll advise) but the conditions are often better: more swell, cleaner winds, fewer people in the water. Some riders prefer winter. We do.

Woolacombe is on the North Devon coast, roughly 50 minutes from the M5 at junction 27. There's a main car park directly behind the beach. The nearest train station is Barnstaple (about 14 miles), from where you can get a taxi or bus. We recommend driving if you can — it gives you more flexibility on the day if we need to adjust timing based on conditions.
